Coaches/Assistant Coaches Code of Conduct
- I will not address the referee during the game. Only exceptions are pointing out emergencies or safety issues, making substitutions, and responding to a referee initiating a communication. During halftime break and after the completion of the game, I may politely ask for the referee to explain the rules surrounding a call made during the game.
- I will introduce myself to the opposing coach and referee before each game.
- I will give polite, friendly and constructive feedback to the referees. I will thank the referee after the game and encourage my players to do the same.
- I will not display my frustration on the field or off, in front of the players and fans.
- I will encourage fair play and de-emphasize winning and losing.
- I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials. I will applaud good plays by members of my team as well as the opposing team.
- I will treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect both on and off the field.
- I will not use profanity or inappropriate gestures around players, fans or officials.
- At a preseason meeting, I will explain acceptable player and parent behavior.
- I realize that I am responsible for the conduct of the players and parents on my team.
- I will develop the child's appreciation of the game.
- I will allow each player to experience all positions.
- I will allow each player to play a minimum of 1/2 of each game.
- I will not bring alcohol or illegal drugs inside the soccer complex.
- I will coach/teach my team and assistant coaches strategies so that our team will not beat another team by an unreasonable amount of goals.
- I will remember that members of my team are the ones playing soccer, not me.
- I will know and follow all rules set forth by the club.
- I will not step on the field during the game unless allowed by the referee, during a player injury or a safety issue. I will be allowed on the field if I am needed to referee my U-4, U-5, or U-6 game.
