LCSC United 98B finished fourth in the Challenge State Cup losing in the semifinal to the eventual state champs

GIRLS

LCSC United 99G White played up this year at the U13 Challenge level and not only did well, but placed 3rd in the SCYSA Bob Brantly Publix U13G Challenge Cup this past weekend in Greenville, SC.

The team started off strong on Saturday against CESA 98G Premier having a score of 0-0 up until the last minute of the game, only to lose 1-0 to the team, which ended up placing 1st by weekend’s end. Their game on Sunday against Carolina FC 98G Blue also was a close one, as they were 1-1 at game’s end so went into overtime, then our girls won in PKs with a 8-7 count! What an exciting weekend of soccer and way to go Lexington United 99 Girls!

The LCSC 02 boys Blue outscored their opponents 11-1 in their 3 matches to earn Chanpions honors in the weather shortened tournament.

The LCSC 97G team finished the Kookaburra Cup as champions in the U-14 girls division with three victories: 2-1, 4-0, and 7-0. They finished of their table on 18 points.

The LCSC 02B Royal team were honored as finalists in the Kookaburra Cup U-9 boys division. They finished on 20 points after three matches with two wins and only one defeat.

      Lexington County Soccer Club (LCSC) is currently hosting the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Diploma course at Columbia College. This two weekend course with 50 hours of instruction and 6 hours of evaluation is designed to provide education, support and professional growth for coaches of advanced players.

     Coaches have traveled from as far as Seattle for this course, and range from collegiate to club level. The National Diploma course teaches coaches to use both progressive and coaching in the game teaching methodologies in teaching techniques and tactics in a 6v6 model.

     The NSCAA’s experienced staff of Jeff Vennell from Connecticut, Jay Golomb from Florida and Kendall Reyes from Spartanburg combine to provide a learning environment that is conducive to learning for any level coach.

     Candidates are exposed to a curriculum that includes valuable resource materials, sessions in ethics and management, and written, oral, and practical (on-field coaching) evaluations. This developmental approach is in line with LCSC’s philosophy of long term growth for its players.

     LCSC is proud to have nine coaches participating in this course and the commitment they show to our club and players.

Our next two coaching courses will focus on training the specialized area of goalkeepers. Both Level I and Level II courses will be offered in the same weekend. These courses are designed for every coach, not solely for keeper coaches. A specific date in June will be announced shortly for these courses.

 

1^st Annual

October 13, 2011

Our club’s 1^st Annual Golf Tournament turned out to be a big success thanks so many people! We had approximately 60 participants who enjoyed the day playing golf, eating delicious food and socializing - all in an effort to benefit the youth who play soccer with the Lexington County Soccer Club. Our deepest gratitude to all of our generous sponsors, all of those who were golfers, and all who were wonderful volunteers!! Thanks to everyone for the success of our club’s 1^st golf tournament!!

These players have been recognized by many Colleges and Universities as players that can compete and contribute at the next level. DOC Alan Riches commented,  “We work hard to prepare our players for college. We feel comfortable that these schools are getting quality players that are used to the high demands required of college training and performance. Our players understand the requirements of the college level and should fit in nicely with their respective teams."

College soccer recruiting is a very dynamic process. Grades and test scores are a very big part of that process. “These players also excel in the classroom and have the ability to be successful in college and beyond. We are very proud of them, would like to thank them for their services and wish them all the best in their future endeavors" said Riches.
