Lexington Soccer Organizations Merge
Friday, June 20th, 2008

As of June 1, 2008, two great youth soccer organizations joined forces to form an even stronger club that is focused on developing skilled youth players in Lexington County. The Lexington Recreational Soccer Club, which has operated a recreational soccer program since 1988, and the Lexington County Soccer Club, which was solely a “club” organization that successfully competed statewide and regionally at classic, challenge and premier levels, merged to form a club that now comprises both recreational and club level of play for youth.

This merger will give both clubs a stronger means of developing youth soccer in Lexington County. The former LCSC will now have direct ties to a quality recreational program in order to build future club teams. And the former LRSC will now have access to broader coaching resources and a great place to channel their more highly-skilled players who are ready for club level soccer. The merger provides the opportunity to create a seamless curriculum for the development of male and female youth players. Together club leaders can install age appropriate training that will accelerate growth and foundationally create solid players.

The newly merged club will continue to use the “Lexington County Soccer Club” name and logo, since it is representative of all of Lexington County, which is the club’s home. The club will address its individual teams as “Lexington United.” The club now totals an estimated 1200 upon recreational fall registration. Although the club successfully held tryouts for the classic, challenge and premier levels in May, youth who might still be interested in playing are welcome to contact club officers for potential team vacancies.

LCSC looks forward to presenting a “Lexington United” front with more members who support the sport of soccer and are committed to developing skilled youth players at both the recreational and club levels!! Go Lexington United!
