On Saturday, July 7th, Lexington County Soccer Club will host its third annual Lexington County 3 v 3 Cup at Lexington Soccer Complex on Gibson Rd. This event is part of the 3v3 World Tour. For teams that attended last year, you know that 3 v 3 soccer is a great deal of fun to both watch and play. It builds great skill in a small sided game, the games are fast paced, and the players love the experience.
There is no special paperwork involved– no player passes, no special tournament rosters. Registration is done on line, and the only paperwork that you will need to present on the day of the tournament will be a copy of all player’s birth certificates to insure that everyone is playing in the correct age group. Roster sizes are limited to a maximum of 6 players.
Anyone can create and field a team. All you need are a group of players and a common uniform - T-shirts will do (pick a color) – or you can use your uniforms from this or any previous season.
All teams are guaranteed a minimum of four matches. Depending on groupings, some teams may play a fifth or sixth match. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each division.
Teams may be formed in any age group ranging from u-6 through u-18. Teams are single gender – boys or girls. There are multiple divisions in each age group to accommodate different skill levels of players.
Games consist of two 10 minute halves with a brief halftime of 2 to 3 minutes. Fields for U6/U7/U8 are 30 yards long by 20 yards wide. U9 and older teams will play on fields that are 30 yards wide by 40 yards long. Goals are the small sided goals that you see on the fields for our younger aged teams.
Teams may choose to play in multiple events throughout the southeast during the summer (besides the one in Lexington). You can accumulate points for success in each event and the top teams in each division may choose to go to the NC/SC Champions Cup in Charlotte on July 14 as well as the 3 v 3 World Cup in Mooresville, NC on July 28 and 29 .
The number of tournaments that you play in and whether or not you choose to attend the larger events in Charleston and Mooresville is strictly up to you, but we would hope that you will at least join us in Lexington on July 7th.
Early registration (before June 25th) is $135 per team. Late registration (between June 25 and July 3) is $155.
We urge you to put a team together and join us at this unique event. Remember, players do not have to be from a team that you have coached – any group of same aged players is eligible.
